A 45-year-old male from Arunachal Pradesh presented to the emergency department with persistent cough, intermittent fever, and haemoptysis for the past three weeks. Physical examination revealed crackles in the right lung base, and chest X-ray showed patchy infiltrates in the right lower lobe with multiple cavitating nodules throughout the lungs. The blood investigation revealed elevated eosinophils. Sputum and stool sample microscopy showed the following.

Pulmonary Paragonimiasis due to Paragonimus westermani infection.
P. westermani eggs are oval shaped, 80 um x 45um in size, golden brown and operculated. - How is this infection acquired?
Infection occurs through ingestion of uncooked or partly cooked crab or crayfish containing the infective metacercaria. - What is the treatment?
The recommended treatment regimen is Praziquantel 25mg/kg/dose for 2 consecutive days.
